Decluttering My Past

Today, purpose and consumption are the most important considerations when an item is about to enter our household. I wholeheartedly believe that books are meant to be read, games are meant to be played, tools are meant to be used, and music is meant to be listened to. On top of that, I try to acquire something only if it helps me with a task at hand or acts as a timeless source of inspiration.

This year, we started the process of getting rid of my desk and everything in the office since I won’t be working from home anytime soon. This week, I realized that a lot of the gear is tied to my former life as a musician (three guitars) and, of course, as a podcaster. Will I ever pick up the suitcase with my beloved Rødecaster again? Right now, I have no use for it. Maybe, deep down, I’m afraid that letting go of these old items means letting go of my former self.
