Going Bilingual

As it’s quite obvious, German is my native language. But of course, English has always been a part of my life. I remember that back in the day, the first Yu-Gi-Oh! cards I bought were only available in English. So I had to translate them myself—with the help of a book, because the internet wasn’t like it is today! 😱

Nevertheless, when I signed up for Twitter in 2009 and started my first blog in 2010, I decided to write in German. I simply felt I wasn’t skilled enough.

Even today, although I speak English at work, I still write in German—but I’ve always known that it limits my reach.

Recently, I found out that people are translating my posts here and on Mastodon.
So I thought, why hold back? From now on, I’ll post in English whenever the context fits and translate some of the most popular articles on my blog. I hope I can manage this without installing the big language plugins for WordPress.
